I can not vouch for anyone else but when I’m faced with something that requires deep thought, I turn to music to aid and comfort me through such times. And more often than not, I always turn to the same tracks. These are the songs that I have cried to, sat in the car while looking at the moonlight water, and spent the wee hours of the day listening to. Hope you find one in this list that does the same thing for you.
City and Colour - Hope for Now : “How could I instil such hope, but be left with none of my own?”
Nine Inch Nails - Right Where It Belongs : “What if you could look right through the cracks, would you find yourself, find yourself afraid to see?”
Wye Oak - Civilian : “I am nothing without pretend. I know my faults, can’t live with them.”
Frou Frou - Let Go: “It’s alright because there’s beauty in the breakdown.”
Sufjan Stevens - Chicago : “You came to take us, all things go, all things go. To recreate us, all thing grow, all things grow. We had our mind set, all things known, all things known. You had to find it, all things go, all things go.”
Coldplay - The Hardest Part: “Everything I know is wrong and everything I do it just comes undone and everything is torn apart oh and that’s the hardest part.”
Neverending White Lights - The Grace: “Alone, where I’m not alone.”
Broken Social Scene - Sweetest Kill: “All the time we get by trying to figure our lives, like a fade out.”
Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day: “And he takes, and he takes, and he takes…”
Incubus - Aqueous Transmission: “Further down the river…”
City and Colour - Silver and Gold: “Everything I loved and feared had all at once disappeared.”
ST - I’ll Meet You There: “I know the time goes fast with you, time is all we have, so maybe it’s too late?”
The Cinematic Orchestra - That Home: “Where the rooms are a collection of our lives.”
“I lean against the wind. Pretend that I am weightless. And in this moment I am happy…”
Not only do I love this song, but I LOVE the original music video that was first made for this song. A second version was created due to 9/11 but nonetheless the newer version doesn’t cut it for me like the original does. Today I went searching for the original and I figured I’d upload it here. Enjoy!
If I turn into another Dig me up from under what is covering The better part of me.
I would of loved to been at this concert. Regardless, what a song this is! “Dig” is such a uplifting and liberating song. I’m never going to tire of this song.
Sing this song Remind me that we’ll always have each other When everything else is gone.
